Making your life count

October 21, 2016

Most people want to make their lives count. Parents will spend thousands of dollars for one major reason: to make sure their children have a good plan for their lives or their lives count for time and eternity.

We have a problem, though. Why do children make poor decisions when they know their parents have tried to raise them right?

The answer to that question does not come easy. To make sure a child lives a life of wisdom he must have the right plan for himself and not someone else's plan. He knows he needs some help and he knows where to look: He looks to God.

Paul said, “I urge you, brothers, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship” (Romans 12:1). Paul had a simple answer for dealing with making good decisions. He said in so many words, “Turn your life over to God and please God and He will make it count.”

If a young person wakes up in the morning and before his feet hit the floor, he has one passion. He wants his life to count for the glory of God. All day long he asks God for wisdom and how to please Him. When he does he has all the wisdom of God to make the perfect decisions and handle problems in the right way. He will never have to hang his head in shame.

Today, ask God to give you the wisdom you need and He will. You will find that you have made your life count in a miraculous way: a life well lived.
