The Alva Board of Education met in special session Tuesday, Nov. 29, at noon to interview candidates for the vacant board seat No. 4. Interviews were held in a closed executive session.

Following return to open session, the board voted in favor of appointing Karen Koehn to the vacant seat. The position was left open following the resignation of Lynda Martin.

Koehn is employed as career counselor with the Northwest Technology Center in Alva. Before taking that position, she was employed by the Alva schools as a student counselor. She and her husband are longtime residents of Alva.
