First of three meetings featuring Anderson Creek Wildfire

Comanche Pool Prairie Resource Foundation will host the first of its three Coffee Shop meetings of 2017. The meeting will be on Thursday, Feb. 2, at the Wilmore Community Building 105 Taft Street in Willmore, Kansas.

This meeting will feature “Anderson Creek Wildfire – What We Learned.” Jerry McNamar, Barber County emergency manager, will discuss the fire and the events that unfolded and what was learned for the future.

“Range Recovery for Livestock after Anderson Creek Wildfire” will be presented by Dusty Tacha, NRCS range management specialist.

Bill Waln, USFWS, zone fire management officer, will be discussing “Defensible Space Considerations.”

This meeting will also include a Local Producer panel for a question-and-answer session.

Two more meetings are scheduled in this series: on Feb. 9, “Soil Health and Grazing Cover Crops for Profit,” and on Feb. 16, “Cover Crops – in Real Life.”
