DURANT, Okla. – Southeastern picked up a 2-0 win in a pitcher's duel over Arkansas-Monticello, but was unable to pick up the sweep on the day, falling in the finale 9-4 on Saturday afternoon at the Southeastern Softball Field.

The split moves the Savage Storm to 7-7 on the year and 1-3 in Great American Conference play.

Emily Cudd went the distance in the opener and scattered a pair of hits over 7.0 innings pitched with a pair of strikeouts.

A Riddle double in the first would plate Kennedy Salyers for a 1-0 lead and two batters later James would single home Riddle for a 2-0 lead which would hold up to be the final score.

James would add two more hits in the nightcap and finish that game 2-for-3, while Symphoni Shomo, Riddle, Keeshia Thompson and Mykaela Wallace added a hit each.

Wallace and Riddle would each homer in the effort, driving in two runs apiece.

Ashley Moore got the start and a no decision after allowing two runs on three hits in 3.0 innings of work.

Riddle would add an inning of work and allow a run on a hit, while Cudd would toss 2.1 innings in relief and allow six runs on five hits and was saddled with the loss.

Salyers would toss two-thirds of an inning and not allow a hit.

Every run in the contest was scored on home runs, with UAM opening the game with a two-run shot in the third inning for a 2-0 lead.

Riddle would answer with a two-run shot in the bottom of the fourth to even the score at 2-2.

The Cotton Blossoms answered with a grand slam in the top of the fifth to open up a 6-2 lead, but Wallace would provide an answer in a two-run homer to narrow the gap to 6-4.
