Hillcat Men's Golf Finishes Third at The Rawls Course

 


LUBBOCK, Texas – Rogers State men's golf held to its third place standing in day two of the 2017 Arbor Hotels Classic at The Rawls Course with a round of 297 Tuesday for an 893 tournament total and the best finish by a NCAA Division II program in the three round event.

RSU finished seven strokes better than fourth place Colorado State – Pueblo with a nine-over par final round for the Hillcats. With the fifth best team score Tuesday, the Hillcats finished third in the 16 team field and 11 strokes out of second place.

Junior Alex Marsh moved up one spot in the final round with a one-under par 71 and a tournament total of 217 (75-71-71) at one-over par for a two-way tie for fifth. The Southhampton, England native had the best finish of a NCAA Division II golfer in the two-day tournament. Marsh finished two strokes better than Division II Newman's Lee Maddox finishing tied for seventh.


Senior Hagen Barmasse jumped eight spots in day two shooting 73, carding his best round of the three-round event. Barmasse finished tied for 18th along with Eric Moore with a 224 three-round total. Moore shot one-under par 71 in the opening round tying Marsh for the best round by a Hillcat for the tournament.

Patrick Bart improved each round shooting 80-78-76 – 234 tied for 64th while Ewen Delample finished tied for 71st carding rounds of 77-75-86 for a tournament total of 238 on the par 72 course.

Wayland Baptist claimed the team titled with an 11-over par, three-round total of 875 after shooting seven-over par Tuesday. The Pioneers finished seven strokes ahead of second place Odessa College after OC shot one-over par 289 in the third round for a tournament total of 297-296-289—882.


Texas Tech's Hayden Springer, participating as an individual, took home medalist honors after shooting five-under par 67 Tuesday to finish at nine-under, 207 on the Red Raiders home course.

Rogers State returns to action in Danville, Ark. at the Dave Falconer Classic at Chamberlyne Country Club on March 13-14.
