Lady Bulldogs Finish Second at Diffee Ford Invitational in Edmond

 


EDMOND, Okla. – SWOSU Women's Golf led after the first day at the Diffee Ford Invitational in Edmond, but was passed on the scoreboard by Central Oklahoma in the final round to finish second overall in the tournament. Gloria Choi and Elin Wahlin both led the way for the Dawgs, finishing second and third respectively overall for the event.

Choi shot a 69 (-1) and 76 (+6) in her two rounds, ending five over for the tournament and just one stroke behind the best score of 144. Wahlin carded consistent scores of 74 (+4) and 72 (+2) to end just one stroke shy of Choi's mark.

Chloe Thackeray was SWOSU's third-best golfer in the tournament, getting off to a slow start on day one after shooting an 82 (+12) but rebounded to shoot a 71 (+1) on day two to salvage a 15th place finish overall. Jenna Eidem shot 162 (+22) for the tournament and Emily Folsom rounded out the scores for the Dawgs with a 164 (+24) through both rounds.


As individuals, both Jessie Goodwin and Courtney Gourdin traveled to Edmond and finished tied with each other by shooting 160 (+20) which would have been the fourth and fifth best SWOSU scores.

Central Oklahoma was the Diffee Ford winner after finishing the event with a 605 total score, three shots better than the Lady Bulldogs who ended with 608. Sydney Roberts posted the best overall score of 144 (+4) through both rounds, edging Choi's for the number one spot.

SWOSU will head to Florida for their next tournament at the Barry Women's Invitational in Miami on Monday-Tuesday March 27-28.
