Oklahoma City man denied leniency, gets life prison sentence
March 30, 2017
OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — An Oklahoma City man convicted of first-degree murder in the 2014 shooting death of his wife has been denied leniency and sentenced to life in prison.
The Oklahoman (http://bit.ly/2nvQfe8 ) reports District Judge Bill Graves denied 36-year-old Kinney J. Glasson Jr.'s plea Tuesday. The judge also denied Glasson any credit for time served in jail while he awaited his trial and sentencing.
Prosecutors allege Glasson killed his wife to be with his girlfriend. Assistant District Attorney Dan Pond asked that the judge "not show mercy."
While Glasson didn't deny he shot his wife in the back while she slept Nov. 19, 2014, he contends the shooting was an accident. He says his gun accidentally fired during a fight with a home intruder.
Prosecutors say there was no evidence of a burglary.
Glasson will be eligible for parole in his mid-70s.
