Bulldogs Sweep Storm

WEATHERFORD, Okla. — Southern Nazarene dropped both games of a doubleheader at Southwestern Oklahoma State, 4-2 and 5-1.

Garrett Perez went 3-for-4 with a run scored while Tyler Stevens and Anthony Wiggins went 2-for-4 in the opener. The Storm out hit the Bulldogs10-6, but had three errors.

Southwestern Oklahoma State took a 3-0 lead with two in the first and one in the second before SNU got on the board in the top of the fourth. Wiggins drove in the run with a double to left center to score Perez. SWOSU added another run in the bottom fo the sixth to lead 4-1. SNU cut the lead to 4-2 in the eighth on a single to center by Mike Descisciolo, but that was as close as the Storm came.

Jefferson Harris (1-4) got the start and took the loss after he gave up four runs, three earned, on six hits. He struck out three in 6.1 innings of work.

In the nightcap, Southwestern took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third, but SNU tied it in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch that scored Austin Cooper. The Bulldogs retook the lead with one in the bottom half of the inning and put it away with three in the bottom of the fifth.


Wiggins and Cooper had the only hits of the game as each was 1-for-3.

David Gustafson (0-6) gave up five runs, only two of which were earned as SNU committed five errors, on four hits in 5.2 innings of work.
