North Dakota oil production remains above 1M barrels daily

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — North Dakota's oil production remained above 1 million barrels per day in April for the third straight month.

The Department of Mineral Resources says the state produced an average of 1.05 million barrels of oil daily in April, up slightly from 1.02 million barrels in March.

North Dakota also produced 1.8 billion cubic feet of natural gas per day in April, up slightly from March to a record.

The April tallies are the latest figures available.

There were 55 drill rigs operating in North Dakota on Tuesday, up five from the April and May averages but well below the all-time high of 218 on May 29, 2012.

North Dakota first surpassed the million-barrel-per-day mark in April 2014 and set a production record in December 2014 at 1.22 million barrels daily.
