Landon Joe, son of Violet Ora (Murrow) and Ivan Joe Morse, was born in Dacoma, Oklahoma, on April 23, 1938, and grew up on a farm south of Dacoma. He passed away at Share Convalescent Home on July 2, 2017, at the age of 79 years, 2 months and 9 days.

Joe started elementary school at Red Bird School south of Dacoma; graduated from Dacoma High School with the class of 1956; and attended Northwestern State College in Alva, receiving a bachelor of science degree.
