Oklahoma high school theater director shows play in New York's oldest theater festival

 


CHEROKEE, Oklahoma – (AP) The old saying "those who can't do, teach," does not apply to Cherokee High School's theater director, Jason Paris.

Paris went to New York on Thursday to premiere his play, "Locker Room Talk: A Liberal Fantasy."

"It's sort of a reaction to the 2016 election," Paris said. "It was me wrestling with what the election meant."

While the play is influenced by politics, Paris said it is not about taking sides.

"If we can all laugh together, I think it's easier for everyone to come to the table," Paris said.
