RUSSELLVILLE, Ark. — The University of Arkansas at Monticello men's basketball team was selected first overall in the Great American Conference Preseason poll, as was released by the conference on Thursday.

Arkansas-Monticello enters the new year after finishing with a 23-7 (17-5 GAC) record during the 2016-17 season, while breaking various records and milestones along the way to a NCAA Central Region Tournament appearance, where the Weevils fell to the 2016 champions, Augustana 76-69 in Maryville, Missouri.
