Balanced Attack Leads Hillcats to 85-68 Victory over StMU

CLAREMORE, Okla. – Five Hillcats scored in double figures as a balanced attack led the Rogers State men's basketball team to an 85-68 victory over St. Mary's on Thursday (Jan. 18) at the Claremore Expo Center. RSU earned their fourth straight win and moved to 4-2 in the Heartland Conference and 13-5 overall.

Baron Smith Jr. registered a team-high 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting, including a perfect 3-for-3 shooting from 3. Tate Turner went for 14 points. Saint Hilaire finished at 9-of-10 shooting from the free throw line for 13 points and totaled a team-high seven rebounds and four assists. Chase Littlejohnhit four 3-pointers for all of his 12 points in 23 minutes off the bench. Gage Loy was also in double figures with 11 points and knocked down three triples.

RSU was hot from 3 at 58.3 percent (14-24), including 75 percent (9-12) in the first half. In a big run to pull away, the navy and red knocked down four of those 3-pointers. The Cats shot 49.2 percent (29-59) from the floor in the game.


With the score tied at 20-20 midway through the first half, the Hillcats went on a 23-5 run over the next eight minutes to pull out to a 43-25 lead. RSU sank four 3-pointers during the run, including back-to-back triples from Baron Smith Jr. The Cats held a 43-29 edge at halftime.

In the second half, the navy and red led by as many as 22 points en route to the 85-68 victory.

StMU's Petar Radojicic posted a game-high 26 points on 12-of-17 shooting. Juwan Green went for 18 points.
