February 8, 2018

The Billings High School girls basketball team was no match for the Freedom High School girls defense as the Lady Eagles simply dominated their opponents on Friday in Billings, 64-6. The Lady Eagles didn’t allowed Billings to score a basket in the second half.

On Monday, the regular season came to an end at home in a 59-46 loss to the Lady Cardinals of Medford. Freedom finishes the regular season with a 10-14 record, the most wins since they finished 11-10 in the 2013-14 season.

The Lady Eagles look to tie that win total on Friday as they start district play against 0-16 Deer Creek-Lamont at Cimarron High School in Lahoma. FHS topped DCLA in the Medford Tournament 48-41 on Jan. 5. Tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.

With a win, the Lady Eagles will advance to the district championship game against the host school Cimarron at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, as well as locks up a spot in regional play at Waynoka on Feb. 15.

In the Billings game, Summer Ralston finished the contest with 20 points, Emily Reed had 13 points and freshman Tamlynn Link scored 10 points. It was a balanced scoring night over all for the Lady Eagles with Nicole Hughes and Katlynn Galemore had nine and eight points, respectively, and Linsy Weber and Krista McComb each scored two points.

Reed and Link combined to come away with 13 steals.

Hughes and Ralston were double-figure scorers in the loss against Medford. Hughes led the team with 13 points, including a three-for-four night from long range, and Ralston finished with 10. Weber had a nice game on the boards as she pulled down a team high 12 rebounds.

Reed also played a big role on the offensive end as she dished out four assists to go with six points. She recorded four steals as well in the loss.
