Taylor Homers, Drives in Five in Harding's 15-8 Loss at Union

JACKSON, Tenn. – Harding senior Chris Taylor set career highs with four hits and five RBIs Tuesday in the Bisons' 15-8 loss to Union in nonconference action at Fesmire Field.

Taylor singled in a run in the first inning, hit a two-run home run in the fourth, and had RBI singles in both the eighth and ninth. Miles Humphreys had two hits, including a triple, and scored three times, and Hayden Walraven went 3-for-4 with three singles. With his two hits, Humphreys extended his team-best hitting streak to seven games.

Harding (5-6) had 14 hits in the game, tying a season high.

Union, a member of the Division II Gulf South Conference, improved to 4-6 with the victory. Each member of the Bulldog starting lineup had at least two hits. Union totaled 22 hits, with 12 for extra bases, including four home runs, and scored in every inning but the second.

Jackson Ward (1-1) started for Harding and was one of six Bison pitchers used. Ward allowed four earned runs in two innings and was tagged with the loss. Union reliever Scott Shearer (2-2) pitched three scoreless innings of relief for the win.


Tuesday's game was Harding's fourth consecutive on the road. The Bisons return to the road for three more this weekend when they take on Southwestern Oklahoma in Great American Conference play in Weatherford, Oklahoma.
