STILLWATER, Okla. - Luke Cornett and Austin Gean have been named to the 2018 Division II PING All-Region Team, the Golf Coaches Association of America announced Tuesday.

Cornett and Gean were two of 12 honorees from the Central Region, and Arkansas Tech is one of just three programs in the region to have multiple selections. Four of the 12 golfers represent the Great American Conference, including Harding's Mason Banger and Southeastern Oklahoma's Zach James.

Cornett, a senior from Drasco, Ark., led the Wonder Boys with six top-10 finishes in 2017-18, including four consecutive to close out the regular season. Cornett currently ranks 90th in Division II with an average round of 73.03 strokes, and he is 59th in the nation in par-4 scoring. In 33 rounds of golf this season, Cornett has scored 106 birdies, 24th-best in Division II. He is also a two-time All-GAC First Team selection.

Gean, a sophomore from Florence, Ala., joined the Wonder Boys before the 2018 spring season. He has posted top-10 finishes in four of six events, and his scoring average of 72.20 ranks second in the GAC, 37th in Division II and is tied for the lowest single-season scoring average in Arkansas Tech history. Gean also earned all-conference honorable mention in his first year at Tech.

Cornett and Gean have led the Wonder Boys to an average team score of 291.73 per round, second-best in men's golf program history. In his two-year career with the Wonder Boys, Cornett has averaged 73.03 strokes per round, the lowest scoring average for a career in Tech history.

Arkansas Tech is currently competing in the 2018 NCAA Division II National Championships in Muscle Shoals, Ala. The three-round event began on Monday and is scheduled to end on Wednesday, May 23, before the match-play portion of the championships begins on Thursday and Friday.
