Choi and Wahlin Repeat as WGCA All-Region Selections

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – SWOSU placed two individuals on the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-Central Region team with juniors Gloria Choi and Elin Wahlin garnering a selection to the team for the second straight season.

The All-Region teams consist of the Top 10 players in each region and are selected by the WGCA Division II Awards Committee, with the winner of each regional tournament receiving an automatic selection.

Choi (Langley, British Columbia) put together another stellar season in her junior campaign, which ended with her ranked third in the Central Region by GolfStat. She finished in the Top 10 at six of the Lady Bulldogs' 11 tournaments, with four top-five finishes, including an individual victory at the Central Region Spring Preview. Choi was previously named a First Team All-Great American Conference selection for the third straight season before finishing tied for second at the GAC Championships as she helped SWOSU to a runner-up team finish at the event.

Wahlin (Karlshamn, Sweden) was also a standout for the Lady Dawgs during her junior season, which saw her ranked eighth in the Central Region by GolfStat. She recorded seven Top-20 finishes in 11 tournaments, twice finishing in the top five at a tournament - including a fifth-place tie at the Super Region 3 Championships, which had her in position to earn an individual berth at the NCAA Division II National Championships. Wahlin is now a three-time First Team All-GAC selection and two-time All-Central Region honoree along with claiming Individual Medalist honors at the 2017 GAC Championships.

"I am extremely proud of both Elin and Gloria for this well-deserved award," SWOSU Head Golf Coach Brad Fleetwood said. "Both ladies have put in a tremendous amount of hard work, both this year and in their career as whole. They both have been a driving force in our success these past few years and I look forward to seeing what their senior year has in store for them."

SWOSU Women's Golf has now had six players earn an All-Region selection from the WGCA, with previous honorees including Ashlynn Hall(2013), Ana Gomez (2014) along with Choi and Wahlin also earning a selection last season.
