Storm Volleyball Falls to Wayne State, Texas Woman's

DURANT, Okla. — Southern Nazarene fell 3-1 (25-14, 25-19, 20-25, 25-10) to No. 20 Wayne State (Neb.) in its first match at the South Central Classic before losing 3-0 (25-21, 25-14, 25-21) to Texas Woman's in its final match of the night.

Bailee Turang had her third double-double of the season with 13 kills and 11 digs against Wayne State. She also added two blocks. Kayla Thomas totaled nine kills while Kylie Smith had 31 assists and three aces. Logan Matthews posted 18 digs while Meagan Ellis had eight. Bailey Grimes also had three blocks.

The Storm were held to a .079 clip while Wayne State hit .274. WSC also had seven team blocks. SNU had 30 attacking errors in 114 attempts.

Ellis led the way for SNU in the nightcap with 11 kills and eight digs along with two blocks. Smith had 20 assists and eight digs to go with three aces as the Storm (2-4) had six on the night. Matthews had 11 digs while Turang had nine along with seven kills. Makenna Hunter also had four blocks.


SNU as a team had five blocks, but hit just .033 in the match. TWU had seven blocks.
