Ashlynn Gibbs made a few saves as the game took off quickly. Eventually, UCO found the back of the net 10 minutes into the game, giving them a 1-0 lead. Just four minutes later the Bronchos made it 2-0 with another goal. Following the goal, Raegan Edwards made a shot, but it resulted high of the goal. Gibbs made another quick four saves, keeping the score 2-0. The score would remain unchanged at the end of the half.
