Nabweteme's Hat Trick Lifts Bulldogs Past Rangers

ALVA, Okla. – Sandra Nabweteme's hat trick performance led the SWOSU Soccer team to their first Great American Conference victory of the season as they defeated Northwestern Oklahoma State, 6-1 in Alva Tuesday night.

The first half started out quickly as the Rangers found the back of the net in the seventh minute of the game. The Bulldogs offense would not stay quiet long as Nabweteme would score her first goal of the game in the 21st minute knotting things up at 1-1. Nabweteme would put SWOSU ahead shortly after as she netted her second goal of the night in the 29th minute giving the Bulldogs a one-goal advantage. Alimata Rabo would send SWOSU into the locker room on a high note as she scored her first goal of the night one second before the buzzer giving to give the Bulldogs a 3-1 halftime lead.

The second half was all Bulldogs as they would continue the pressure on the Ranger defense, totaling 10 shots in the half. Jasmine Heffley would put one past the keeper late in the second half for her first goal of the season and Rabo would add to her goal tally scoring her second in the 78th minute. Not to be outdone, Nabweteme would score in the 88th minute to earn the hat trick and put the Bulldogs ahead by the final margin of 6-1.


SWOSU Soccer is now 3-2-1 on the year and 1-0 in the Great American Conference and will be back on the pitch Saturday, September 22, as they return to the SWOSU Athletic Complex to take on East Central at 11 am.
