Harding Women's Soccer Season Ends with Loss in GAC Semifinals

SHAWNEE, Okla. – No. 2 seed Southwestern Oklahoma scored a pair of second-half goals and defeated No. 3 seed Harding 2-0 Thursday in the semifinals of the Great American Conference Tournament. Oklahoma Baptist is hosting the tournament.

Southwestern (13-4-1) advanced to Saturday's championship game, where it will take on the winner of No. 1 seed Oklahoma Baptist and No. 4 seed Ouachita Baptist. Harding's season ended with a 7-10-0 record.

After a scoreless first half, Southwestern's Ashlyn Collier gave the Bulldogs a 1-0 lead in the 52nd minute. Sandra Nabweteme added the second goal on a penalty kick just under seven minutes later.

Harding had seven total shots, three on goal, two of those coming from senior Bethany Sutherland, who finished her Harding career with a school-record 62 goals.

Harding freshman Ashton Springer started at goalkeeper and made seven saves.

Southwestern had 25 shots, nine on goal.
