November 2, 2018

SHAWNEE – The Lady Bison will be trending upwards as they head into postseason play, closing out the regular season with a 3-1 (25-11, 16-25, 25-18, 25-19) win over rival Southern Nazarene for their second win of the week.

By virtue of the win, Oklahoma Baptist claims the sixth seed in the Great American Conference Tournament next week. Entering the match, OBU was in seventh, one match back of Southern Nazarene.

Despite SNU having advantages in both kills and digs, the Lady Bison limited their mistakes while forcing SNU into 25 hitting errors and a .147 hitting percentage. By contrast, OBU hit .212 and had just 14 hitting errors on the night, as season low for a four-set match.

Malia Leatherland led OBU with 13 kills, followed by Brecken Roquemore and Mikayla Watson with 11 and 10 kills, respectively. Hayden Blair handed out 37 assists in the final regular season contest of her career.

Defensively, Delayna Mills paced OBU with 16 digs, while Kelsi Chavez recorded 11. Watson (13), Leatherland (13) and Blair (12) all recorded double-doubles for the evening.

Oklahoma Baptist (16-16, 9-7 GAC) will head to Hot Springs, Arkansas, next week to take on No. 3-seeded Henderson State on Thursday, Nov. 8. First serve from Bank OZK Arena is set for 12 p.m.
