Man sentenced to 7 years in light rail train shooting death

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for fatally shooting a man on a light rail train near the University of Missouri-St. Louis.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Djion Oates, of Berkeley, admitted through a plea deal to a reduced charge of involuntary manslaughter in the April 2017 death of 22-year-old Jesse Boone. He also pleaded guilty to armed criminal action and unlawful gun possession. The sentence was imposed earlier this month.
