Letter to the Editor,

Why kill a tradition just to avoid driving around a tree? Ever since I was a little kid, I loved seeing the Christmas tree up in town, because to every kid in Freedom that meant that Christmas was here and Santa Claus was coming to town. I can remember as a kid waiting anxiously to see Gary Bradt and my dad driving Santa to town in a lit-up fire truck, waving to all the kids. After Santa had made his debut in the fire truck, I can remember watching Santa climb out of the fire truck and walk over to his chair, which was placed in front of the Christmas tree there on the fo...

I think I need to clarify, the Christmas Tree and Santa Day can continue. On Tuesday, it was determined that the County and the Town’s insurance could be configured to include ‘The Town Christmas Tree’ and ‘Santa Day’. I spoke with the Vice-President of the Freedom Chamber of Commerce on Tuesday and I am confident that our Chamber, County, City, and volunteers will be able to pull off another successful Santa Day...Christmas Tree and all!
