March 10, 2019

DURANT, Okla. – A pair of 10th-inning errors allowed Southeastern Oklahoma to score the winning run and defeat Harding 9-8 in the final game of a three-game Great American Conference series Saturday at the Ballpark in Durant. The teams split Friday's doubleheader.

The loss dropped Harding to 14-9 overall and 7-5 in the GAC. Southeastern improved to 11-10 overall and 7-5 in conference.

Harding hit three home runs for the third straight game, including two from Myles Humphreys, who hit a three-run homer in the Bisons's six-run first inning and a solo shot in the sixth.

Harding led 8-3 after six innings, but Southeastern scored three in the seventh and two in the eighth to tie the game.

Ryder Yakel (2-1) came on in relief in the bottom of the ninth and worked out of a jam. In the 10th, Yakel retired the first two hitters before Austin Ferguson singled up the middle with two outs. A Bison throwing error on a ground ball allowed Ferguston to reach third, and he scored on a fielding error.

Humphreys was 2-for-4 with three runs and four RBIs. Nolan Fertig was 2-for-5 with a double, and Ben Bailey and Brooks Pitaniello also had two hits each. David Butterfield had a two-run home run in the first.

Ty Hoecker started for Harding and allowed four earned runs in 6.0 innings. Kaden Kirby, Zach Bilek and Brian Tims all pitched in relief before Yakel entered in the ninth.

Logan Teske (1-1), Southeastern's fourth pitcher, earned the win. Colton Bucker led Southeastern's offense, going 3-for-6 with a run, a double, a triple and four RBIs.

Harding's next action is at Oklahoma Baptist next weekend in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
