Girl Scouts with Woods Service Unit decided to do something a little bit different for their spring service project this year.

Usually they do a baby shower for the first baby girl born around Girl Scout Week but everyone is having boys this year. After some brainstorming, the Girl Scouts decided in honor of Girl Scout Birthday they would make up "Birthday in a Bag" kits for parents and donate them to the local food bank. This way if your child is having a birthday soon, you could pick out a Birthday in a Bag to help you prepare for the big occasion.

Each troop did something a little bit different but all the bags have a cake mix and frosting. Some have party favors, plates and napkins and some have included wrapping paper, and others have included the cake pan too.

The scouts donated the Birthday in a Bag kits to the local food bank on Tuesday, March 12, which is Girl Scout Birthday. Girl Scouts started on March 12, 1912, when Juliette Gordon Low formed the first troop with 18 girls.
