ALVA, Okla. – SWOSU Softball split a rivalry doubleheader against Northwestern Oklahoma State on Tuesday afternoon in Alva.

SWOSU (11-19, 10-12 GAC) returns to action on Friday, heading to Russellville, Ark., to open a four-game series at Arkansas Tech.

Game 1: SWOSU 6, Northwestern 3

The Bulldogs bats started the game strong with a homerun from Amanda Moreno and a triple from Hannah Morris scoring two runs in the first inning. Northwestern answered back in the second inning by scoring one run. The Dawgs kept rolling offensively when Franklin singled up the middle and later scored by an RBI from Sydney Kirk in the third. Moreno later scored again by an error from Northwestern before she and Morris finished the game like they started scoring for the Bulldogs with a solo homerun from Moreno and a passed ball for Morris.

Alisa Friesen (4-7) earns the win by starting and lasting 6.0 innings in the circle allowing three runs before being relieved by Miranda Grover.

Game 2: Northwestern 4, SWOSU 0

The Rangers came out in the second game stronger, scoring two runs off Kaytlin Donaldson with four hits in the first inning. The Dawgs tried to get the bats going in the fourth inning when Donaldson doubled down the line and Sidney Kirk earned a hit through the right side. However, they couldn't get anything to fall and left two stranded. Samantha Householder and Keanni Barron also picked up hits for the Bulldogs, but it was not enough for the Lady Dawgs to get on the board.

Donaldson (5-10) started and pitched a complete game allowing ten hits.
