Tiger's Tennis Splits GAC Opening Weekend

 


ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Men's Tennis splits opening conference week with a sweep of Harding and a loss to Southern Arkansas.

The Tigers would start their weekend with a match against Southern Arkansas on Thursday March 28. The Tigers would battle hard in the match as they would drop two games with a score of 6-3. In the singles Nair Adi and Francisco Oliviera would jump out to wins in their first set. However, the Muleriders would capture three singles victories before Adi and Nair would finish their match. Ouachita would fall with a score of 4-0.

In the second match the Tigers came out hot looking to capture their first conference win of the season. Harding would take the first doubles match before the duos of Dan Kaplun and Santiago Kearney and Nair Adi and Tobias Fuerschuss would win their games. The Tigers would take a 1-0 lead into singles play against the Bisons.

Tobia Fuerschuss returned to his winning ways as he would kick start the Tigers sinlges play with a big 6-0, 6-4 victory. Nair Adi would also dominate his matchup as he would take down his Bison foe with a score of 6-2, 6-0. The deciding match for the Tiger sweep was junior Dan Kaplun's 6-4, 7-5 victory over Harding's Luis Triado.


The Tigers will return to action on Friday, April 5 and Saturday, April 6. They make a trip to Oklahoma to battle with GAC opponents, Oklahoma Baptist and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
