Beadles Nursing Home hosts Senior Challenges

On March 29 Beadles Nursing Home hosted 90 nursing home residents from 10 facilities across northern Oklahoma and southern Kansas. This is the 19th year for the event.

This year’s Senior Challenges theme was “It’s a Jungle out There.” Residents from each nursing home participated in a wide variety of activities, including wheelchair races, ring toss, Nerf gun shooting, basketball, cup stacking, and more. Each event was designed based on the mobility of the resident participating. Gold, silver and bronze medals were awarded to participants. Everyone received a prize generously donated by local businesses. Staff from each nursing home assisted in helping with the event as well as volunteers from Key Club and Northwest Technology Center.

This year’s participating nursing homes were from: Oklahoma – Alva (Beadles and Share nursing homes), Mooreland, Seiling and Wakita; Kansas – Anthony, Attica, Coldwater, Kiowa and Protection.

Planning for the 20th Senior Challenges is underway. If you’re interested in helping with or participating in the 2020 event, please contact Beadles Nursing Home at 580-327-1274.
