The Alva Branch will now conduct services from 10 a.m. to noon each Sunday at the church building located at 1467 Thunderbird Rd., next to the Alva Recreation Center. Visitors are always welcome.

General authorities of the church at headquarters in Salt Lake City announced the change, effective in January, at the church's semi-annual General Conference in October. Leaders also announced a new program of home gospel study for individuals and families that correlates with the Sunday lessons.

The new two-hour block will consist of two meetings each week. Sacrament meeting (worship service) is scheduled 10-11 a.m. for all ages. The second hour will alternate between Sunday school for youth and adults on the first and third Sundays and Relief Society/Priesthood for adults and Young Men/Young Women for youth on the second and fourth Sundays. The branch president will determine the fifth Sunday curriculum. Children will attend Primary classes every Sunday for the second hour.
