Women's Soccer: Bison and Mustangs End in Deadlock

September 13, 2019

WICHITA FALLS, Texas – Despite more than doubling Midwestern State in shot attempts, Oklahoma Baptist Women's Soccer finished Wednesday's bout with the Mustangs in a 1-1 deadlock after regulation and two periods of extra time.

Reigning GAC Defensive Player of the Week Hannah Evans showed she could be a threat offensively as well, putting OBU on top in the 34th minute of action. The junior defender took a free kick from 30 yards out that proved too strong for the goalkeeper's hands. The goal was Evans' first in the Green and Gold.

The Bison were unfortunate to give up a goal off a shot from the edge of the box in the 54th minute. Oklahoma Baptist pushed for the match-winner, taking 16 shots over the final 36 minutes of regulation, but were unable to create separation from their hosts on the night.

Both teams managed just three shots over the two extra-time periods, with Emily Griffith coming up with a save in the 104th minute of action to preserve the tie.

The Bison return to the OBU Soccer Complex for a Saturday tilt against Texas Woman's at 3 p.m.
