Grow and Share OHCE September meeting

Grow and Share OHCE group met on Monday, Sept. 9, at the home of Mary Hamilton. The meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. and all members recited the flag salute. Thirteen members answered roll call to “What is your personality type?” Mary gave a devotional on Christian mentors based on Isiah 43:13. No communications were received during the past month.

Under committees, Janet Cunningham reminded members to collect printer cartridges for recycling as part of our Resource Management Committee goals. Printer cartridges were collected at the Woods County Fair and will also be collected at the Woods County OHCE Fall Meeting.

Under unfinished business, the group discussed the recently completed Woods County Fair. Members were congratulated on their club booth entries and celebrated Grow and Share's first place for its complete booth. Grow and Share members volunteered for pie Sale and Jean Moore entered the Chili Cook-Off at the Woods County Fair.


Under new business, the following officers were elected for 2020. Co-presidentsJanet Cunningham and Carol Erikson, Vice President Carol McDaniel, and Secretary/Treasurer Jean Moore. These names will be turned in to the OSU Extension office. Members were reminded that membership forms and dues are also due at the extension office by Oct. 1. All members were encouraged to attend the Fall OHCE Association meeting on Oct. 7. The group discussed preparing a “fall corner” for the downtown square as requested by the Chamber of Commerce Retail Committee, with a decision to be made before the deadline. The group also decided to bring nonperishable food items to the October meeting for distribution to various food banks in Alva.


Carol McDaniel gave an informative lesson on “Personality Types.” Members discussed the four-color types representing personalities. Janet Cunningham provided a mini-lesson on “Hamilton, the Musical.” The group listened to a musical selection from the play.

Krystenna Womack and Carol McDaniel volunteered to attend the next Leader's Training. Pennies and nickels were collected and secret pal gifts were exchanged. Elizabeth will host the October meeting with the date and place to be determined.

The group enjoyed refreshments provided by Mary.
