Volleyball: Balanced Offense Lifts Bison past Tigers

September 27, 2019

ADA, Okla. – Another match, another sweep for Oklahoma Baptist volleyball as the Bison made the trip to Ada and knocked off the Tigers of East Central, 3-0 (25-17, 25-19, 25-13), on Thursday night. The win pushes the Bison's historic win streak to nine, while also keeping OBU atop the Great American Conference standings with a perfect 3-0 mark.

Oklahoma Baptist rode a balanced attack to get past ECU. No Bison scored more than nine kills on the night, but six had at least four kills as OBU racked up 43 kills for the match. Malia Leatherland paced the squad with nine kills, followed by Brenna Holley with six, and Hayley Daniel and Taneyah Brown with five apiece.

Just like on Tuesday night against Northwestern Oklahoma State, the Bison also benefitted from a defense that kept ECU struggling to find any success on the attack. Twice OBU held the Tiger offense to a .050 hitting percentage or less. Diana Carranza led the charge on the backline, leading all players with 11 digs, followed by Daniel's nine.

Oklahoma Baptist (13-3, 3-0 GAC) is off the rest of the week, but will be back inside Mabee Arena at the Noble Complex for a pair of GAC matches next week. First up for the Bison is Southern Nazarene in rivalry action on Tuesday, Oct. 1 at 7 p.m.
