Rockenbach uncontested to serve another term on Burlington School Board

All members of the Burlington School Board were present as President Terry Graham called the December meeting to order including: Robert Hill, April Kisling, T.J. Rockenbach and Aaron Smith. Also present was Superintendent Dr. Stacey Croft and Minutes Clerk Tamre McGinnis. No guests attended.

Superintendent Croft congratulated Rockenbach who will serve another five-year term on the school board. He was unopposed during the filing period for school board seat No. 5 in December. There's no need for a school election.

Construction of the new bus barn is ongoing. Dr. Croft gave an update on the project – installation of doors, followed by insulation and electricity.

She said the next annual meeting of the Burlington Education Foundation is February 11 at 6:30 p.m., in the school auditorium.

The superintendent went over the utility and telephone expense comparisons from last year, showing that expenses are down.


The following encumbrances, change orders and warrants were approved as follows: General Fund: Encumbrances 261 - 274 for $270,065.83; Change Order for ($27.96); Warrants 492 - 596 for $247,140.17; Building Fund: Warrant 10 for $753.08; Child Nutrition Fund: Encumbrances 12 - 13 for $549.60, Warrants 20 - 24 for $6,524.99; and Building Bond Fund 35: Encumbrance 4 for $34.21; Warrant 5 for $34.21.

Also approved was the November 2019 activity fund report.

The board held an executive session for the purpose of discussing certified personnel status of evaluations and the ongoing evaluation of the performance of the superintendent. No action was taken upon return to open session.


The principal's report focused on end-of-the-semester school activities involving Christmas programs, tree lighting, semester test schedules, etc.

After Christmas Break, students will return for clases on Thursday, January 2nd. The Waynoka basketball games have been rescheduled for Monday, Jan. 6.
