Burlington School Superintendent Croft reemployed for 2020-21 school year

Monday morning board President Terry Graham called the meeting of the Burlington Board of Education to order with all members present, including T.J. Rockenbach, Aaron Smith, April Kisling and Robert Hill.

Also attending were Superintendent Dr. Stacey Croft, Principal Tim Bart and Minutes Clerk Tamre McGinnis. No guests were present.

Following an executive session midway through the meeting, the board approved reemployment of Dr. Croft as superintendent for the 2020-21 school year. In that same executive session they were to discuss but take no action regarding reemployment of Tim Bart as principal next year.

Since January is School Board Recognition Month, Dr. Croft presented board members appreciation certificates for their years of service: Terry Graham, 24 years; Aaron Smith, 8 years; T.J. Rockenbach, 5 years; Robert Hill, 5 years; and April Kisling, 1 year.


Wilson Construction received the board's approval to do cement work around sidewalks at the school buildings. Wilson's quote was for $51,347.50 with the exception that something different may be done with the 6-foot ballards.

The board approved obtaining a quote for the purchase of gravel for street and alley maintenance.

Receiving board approval were the encumbrances, change orders and warrants as follows: General Fund – Encumbrances 275-300 for $21,524.31, Warrants 597-695 for $234,585.27; Building Fund: Encumbrance 7 for $5,000, Warrant 11 for $1,112; Child Nutrition Fund: Warrants 26-30 for $3,130.77; and Building Bond Fund 35: Encumbrance 5 for $59,890 and Warrant 11 for $59,890.


Agenda items also approved by the board included: the December 2019 Activity Fund Report and the Exposure Control Plan.

Superintendent Croft reminded the board of the Annual Burlington Education Foundation meeting, Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. in the school auditorium.

She reminded there is no need for a school election; she gave mid-term adjustments and an update on the progress of the bus barn.

Principal Bart said the FFA held a prayer service for sophomore Dakota Smith who was diagnosed with cancer.

The Balko basketball game was rescheduled for Feb. 1 at Woodward.

The teachers have an in-service day at the Enid Expo on Jan. 24.

Jan. 23-25 is the Cherokee Strip Tournament at Enid and Jan. 27-29 is the Junior High Cherokee Strip at Medford.

There is a Valentine's Dance on Jan. 31 for the high school. Also on Jan. 31 is a Prevent Needs Assessment Survey.

The Elementary Spelling Bee is Feb. 5.

Basketball Senior Night is Feb. 7. Basketball Districts is Feb. 14-15.
