OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) — A central Oklahoma sheriff's lieutenant was killed Friday after a head-on crash in Oklahoma City, police said.

Canadian County sheriff's Lt. Shirley Lanning was westbound in an unmarked police vehicle on Northwest Expressway at 9:30 a.m. when her vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic and slammed into another vehicle, Oklahoma City police Sgt. Megan Morgan said.

Lanning was extricated from her vehicle and taken to a hospital where she was pronounced dead, Morgan said.

Two occupants of that other car were taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, Morgan said. T...
