Two injured in rollover in Woods County

Two teens from Buffalo and Cherokee were injured in a one-vehicle rollover wreck in western Woods County on Friday. The incident occurred at 7:45 p.m. on U.S. Highway 64, two-tenths of a mile east of Jefferson Road. The location is approximately four miles west and two miles north of Freedom.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Brianna E. Spaulding, 19, of Buffalo, was driving a 2009 Honda that went into a broad slide on a curve, went off the road into the north ditch and through a fence, rolling one complete time.

Spaulding was transported from the scene by Eagle Med to Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. She was admitted in serious condition with head, internal and external trunk, arms and leg injuries.

A passenger, Mackenzie Ray Merritt, 18, of Cherokee, was transported by Alva EMS to Woodward Alliance Health in Woodward. She was admitted in stable condition with head, external trunk, arm and leg injuries.


According to the OHP report the cause of the wreck was inattention. Seatbelts were in use.
