Washington, D.C. – Congressman Frank Lucas (OK-03) Monday announced more than $2.7 million in Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) grants supporting airport infrastructure improvements and safety in western Oklahoma.

“The investment in infrastructure and safety across our local airports is important as it relates to the efficiency of business and growth of our communities,” said Congressman Lucas. “Our regional airports play an important role connecting businesses and residents while driving development in our state. I’m happy to see these investments as we work to support Western Oklahoma’s infrastructure needs.”

Alva Regional Airport, City of Alva, will receive $596,998 to expand 10,000 square yards of airport terminal apron pavement. This grant funds the second phase which consists of construction.

Other western Oklahoma airports receiving grants are:

• Stillwater Regional Airport, City of Stillwater – $500,000 to acquire a replacement aircraft and rescue and fire fighting vehicle to assist the airport.

• Sayre Municipal Airport, City of Sayre – $510,201 to reconstruct 5,060 square yards of existing apron pavement.

• Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport, City of Guthrie – $415,212 to rehabilitate 20,600 square yards of existing terminal apron pavement to maintain structural integrity and to minimize foreign object debris.

• Hinton Municipal Airport, Town of Hinton – $420,000 to seal and repair cracks on existing apron surface, runway pavement, and taxiway surface.

• Perry Municipal Airport, City of Perry – $308,400 to improve existing drainage and replace an underground fuel tank with an above ground fuel tank.

• Clinton Regional Airport, City of Clinton – $49,000 to reconstruct 1,290 square yards of existing apron pavement.

These FAA grants are funded through the Airport Improvement Program (AIP). The AIP provides grants to public agencies for the planning and development of public-use airports that are included in the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems (NPIAS).
