The mood was upbeat on a beautiful June morning in Kiowa, Kansas. With ceremonial hard hats and shovels, some of South Barber's board of education members and Superintendent Dr. Mylo Miller stood on the east side of the elementary school located on east Main Street for a groundbreaking ceremony.
Construction on a 1,400-square-foot building is to begin this week. As announced at the February school board meeting, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) awarded South Barber USD 255 $314,688 for the proposed multipurpose room at the elementary school...
