Two Aline residents injured

Two Aline residents were injured in a one-vehicle wreck Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 16. The collision occurred at 12:41 p.m. on US-412, four-tenths of a mile east of OK-132 South. The location is approximately 2.5 miles west of Enid in Garfield County.

Larry Eugene Shelite, 83, of Aline was driving a 2002 GMC 1500 pickup eastbound on US-412. For unknown reasons, the vehicle departed the roadway to the left into the center median. The vehicle drove one-tenth mile in the median before going down into an embankment and came to rest by striking a tree on the driver’s side.

Larry Eugene Shelite was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid where he was treated and released. A passenger, Earline Shelite, 85, of Aline, was transported by Life EMS to St. Mary’s Hospital in Enid where she was admitted in critical condition with head and trunk internal injuries.

The cause of the collision is listed as involving possible medical condition.


Oklahoma Highway Patrol Trooper Justin Barney investigated, assisted by Troopers Cottrill and Sturgeon as well as Life EMS, Enid Fire Department and Lahoma Fire Department.
