ATCHISON, Kan. (AP) — A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in a crash that occurred early Friday while he was fleeing from Atchison police, the Kansas Highway Patrol said.

The crash occurred on Main Street in Atchison while officers were pursuing a pickup truck, the patrol said.

The patrol did not say what prompted the chase.

The pickup eventually went off the road and hit a building, throwing the driver from the vehicle. No one else was in the truck.

The driver was taken to the University of Kansas Hospital in Kansas City, Kansas, with serious injuries, according to the patrol....
