Timberlake Tigers advance to area playoffs

The Timberlake Tigers have moved into the area playoffs after winning Monday afternoon against Balko in the Class B consolation bracket game against Balko.

The regional games were delayed a day due to snow. On Friday, Timberlake was bested by Mt. View-Gotebo 65-41 which sent them into the consolation bracket. The Tigers took on Shidler on Saturday in Fairview, winning 66-33. That led to the final on Monday at Fairview when the Timberlake came out on top 55-49.

Area play begins Thursday in Woodward with Timberlake pitted against Tyrone at 5:30 p.m. Other games in the first round of the Class B Area 1 tournament are Indiahoma vs Goodwell at 8:30 p.m. Thursday and Leedey vs Mt. View-Gotebo on Saturday at 8 p.m. If the Tigers win on Thursday, they'll play the winner of the Indiahoma-Goodwell game on Saturday at 8 p.m. The winner of that game advances to the final on Monday, Feb. 28, at 8 p.m. in Woodward.


Waynoka

The Waynoka Railroaders lost to Shidler in the consolation bracket first round of regionals 48-32. With that loss, the Railroaders have finished their season.

Cherokee

In Class A regionals, the Cherokee Chiefs defeated Prue 59-37 Friday. They took on Seiling Saturday at 8 p.m. but lost 60-37 to finish their season.

Alva

The Class 3A Alva High School basketball teams begin regionals on Friday at Hennessey since games were delayed by weather. The Alva Ladybugs will play Lindsay at 6:30 p.m. while the Goldbugs will take on Hennessey at 8 p.m. After that, games move to Perry.

If the Alva girls win, they play the winner of the Washington-Perry game on Monday at 6:30 p.m. at Perry. The winner and runner-up in that game advance to area which will be played in Enid.


A loss Friday would move the Ladybugs into the consolation bracket for a 6:30 p.m. game Saturday at Perry against the winner of the Chisholm-Sperry game. The winner of that game advances to the final on Monday at 1:30 p.m. in Perry with the winner advancing.

A win for the Goldbugs Friday would move them into the final on Monday at 8 p.m. in Perry against the winner of the Washington-Perry game. Both winner and runner-up advance to the area games to be played in Enid.

If the Goldbugs lose Friday, they face the winner of the Chisholm-Sperry game at 8 p.m. on Saturday at Perry. The winner of that game plays in the final at Perry on Monday at 3 p.m. with the winner advancing.
