GARY L. JEFFRIES

Gary L. Jeffries was born on June 16, 1940, to Kenneth and Hazel (Leslie) Jeffries. He departed from this life on February 23, 2022.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law Travis and Amy Jeffries and grandchildren Iree and Joah Jeffries of Enid.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Hazel Jeffries, and one brother, Owen Jeffries.

Gary was raised in the Carmen–Dacoma area and graduated high school from Lambert in 1958. As a young adult, Gary briefly moved to Austin, Texas, working at JC Penney and later managing a Kenny’s Shoe store. Quickly returning to his roots, he made his home at the family farm where he had chickens, donkeys, guineas, sheep, horses, and cattle.

Gary married Cynthia (Gay) in Alva. From this union Travis was born. Gary was a horse trader in his younger years, an avid country music fan his entire life and a great friend, dad and grandpa. Gary loved cussing his cattle, smoking his cigarettes and playing pranks any chance he had. In 2018, due to health reasons he moved to Enid to be closer to family. He then enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sports activities and socializing (roaming the halls) with his many, many new friends at Brookdale. A celebration of life will be held in Carmen on March 12, 2022, at 11 a.m. at the Senior Citizen Building.
