Man injured while changing tire

A man was hospitalized after he was injured while trying to change a tire. The incident happened in Major County on Thursday at 6:15 a.m.

According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol report, Jesse Oakley, 34, of Cleo Springs, was traveling eastbound on County Road 510 when his front right tire became flat. He stopped on the extreme right edge of the road to attempt to change the tire. Julio Alvarado, 43, of Enid, was placing the jack under the wheel when Rolando Trejo, 48, of Ringwood, driving a 2013 Chevrolet Silverado, failed to see the Oakley vehicle and struck it from the rear, injuring Alvarado.

Alvarado was transported by Air Evac to OU Medical in Oklahoma City where he was admitted in stable condition with trunk internal and head injuries.

The collision was about two miles north and 1.5 miles west of Ames. The cause of the collision is under investigation.

Trooper Donald Kraft investigated, assisted by Troopers Trent Cagle, Jason Burch, Trey Mathews and Brody Carls. Also assisting at the scene were the Major County Sheriff’s Office, Major County EMS, Ringwood Fire Department and Ames Fire Department.
