Thelma Crouch, treasurer of the Woods County Retired Educators Association, presented scholarships to two students at Northwestern Oklahoma State University. These scholarships will assist them as they pursue their teaching degrees.

Mattie Ann Pitts is a junior from Waynoka majoring in Early Childhood Education. Ever since she was 5 years old she knew she wanted to be a teacher. After graduation she plans to teach in a rural school in Northwest Oklahoma and turn her passion into a lifelong career.

Kaleigh Henke, a freshman from Alva, was originally a theatre major, but decided to take some time off to work and decide if that is really what she wanted to do. After the birth of her daughter and watching her grow and learn new things she realized she could help and care for children in the same way every single day. She returned to Northwestern and is currently pursuing a career in education.
