December 25, 2022

Memorial services for Brenda Johnson were held at 2 p.m. Monday, December 19, 2022, at the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) with Pastor Drew Kirtley officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Marshall Funeral Home of Alva.

Brenda Joyce Johnson, daughter of the late R.M. and Joyce (Stites) Beeler, was born April 27, 1944, and passed away December 13, 2022, at Enid, Oklahoma, at the age of 78 years, 7 months and 17 days. She was born and raised in Alva and attended Alva Schools.

In 1959, she was married to Oliver Wendell Eason and to this union two children were born, Shelly and Mark. Later she married Kirk Johnson and around 1978, by circumstances only the Lord could arrange, she was blessed with another to call her son, Kein Lee. Throughout most of her life she worked at the family owned restaurant. First, Joyce's Cafe and then Beeler's Restaurant. Brenda truly loved her job, the many friendships made, and the fun, ornery memories made. One dear, lifelong friend who she worked with, Peggy Burk, became like a sister to her.

Brenda retired from the restaurant, but never retired from cooking. She had a passion for cooking for her family and a favorite tradition was homemade sopapillas on Christmas morning. Her pride and joy were her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved to spoil them. She liked to crochet and crocheted blankets for each of them. Brenda enjoyed traveling and took several trips with her mom and her friend Peggy. She collected salt and pepper shakers and has many from her trips. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Alva. In the past she had served as an elder, belonged to Crazy Cooks and CWF.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents and her good friend, Peggy Burk.

She is survived by her children, Shelly Bouziden and husband, Danny, Mark Johnson and wife, Elaine, and Kein Lee and wife, Madeline; nine grandchildren, Shannon Squires and husband, Nick, Chase Bouziden and wife, Savannah, Linda, Loran, and Bentley Bouziden, Heather Miller and husband, Mylo, Garret Johnson and wife, Rebecca, Amee Stapleton, and Lorena and Isaac Lee; ten great grandchildren, Danielle Canaan, Erin Squires, Bristol and Zarah Bouziden, Livia and Remi Miller, Harley and Maggie Smart, Woodrow Johnson, and Ryker Bouziden; her brother, Billy Beeler and wife, Linda; other relatives and friends.

Memorial contributions may be made through the funeral home to the First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) or Beadles Nursing Home.
