Avard Regional Rail Park Authority holds monthly meeting

April 21, 2023

Avard Regional Rail Park Authority members met for their monthly meeting earlier this week. Stan Bixler, Todd Holder and Ed Sutter were enough to make a quorum (Allan Poe had a scheduling conflict). Woods County Clerk Shelley Reed and Sonja Williams and WDEDC Executive Director Jeremy Zeller joined them.

They began by approving previous meeting minutes, followed by the finance report. Holder didn't have anything to elaborate on, but according to the balance sheet, as of April 18, the total in checking/savings was $471,055.50.

After that, the group discussed auditors again. At their last meeting, they learned their current CPA, Kimberlye R. Mayer, is retiring and leaving most of her clients to Michael Green, a CPA out of Stillwell. Besides Green, Jana Walker's name came up as a possibility, but members decided to table the matter to allow more time for study costs. At the last meeting, Poe mentioned he would also be reaching out to someone else.

WCEDC Report

Zeller gave a very brief update on things he's been working on. At the forefront, he said, was the Lieutenant Governor's Turkey Hunt. Other things he has been working on are time-consuming grant applications.

When he was done speaking, the governing body voted to convene in an executive session.
