The Woods County commissioners signed a proclamation declaring this as 4-H Week during their Monday morning meeting. Woods County Extension Educator Susan Holliday said there are approximately 120 4-H members in the county among three clubs. There are also two Cloverbuds clubs for younger kids. The 4-H members will have special activities commemorating this special week. When Commissioner David Hamil heard baking mentioned, he offered to be a cookie tester. Accompanying Holliday to the meeting was Katy Barger, the new Extension Educator for Ag and 4-H.

Commissioner Chairman John Smiley opened the meeting with Commissioners Randy McMurphy and Hamil present. The commissioners approved the FY23-24 Estimate of Needs and Budget which totals $11,106,499.24.

Hamil explained an Oklahoma Department of Transportation claim for acquisition offers to two parcels of land for $4,200 assigned to Pinnacle Consulting Management Group, Inc. He said this is a District 1 project for a bridge north of Greenleaf. The claim form was approved.

No action was taken on bids for truck light packages for the three new trucks in the Sheriff's Department. County Clerk Shelley Reed said no one submitted a bid.

The commissioners approved establishing a new fund called Homeland Security #1408 that will track the grant received by Woods County Emergency Management. Then they approved a transfer of $8,500, the grant amount, from the general sales tax M & O to Homeland Security. The grant will be used to purchase Starlink satellite equipment to be used in communication.

McMurphy made a motion, seconded by Hamil, and approved unanimously to accept donations of $100 each from McMurphy and Hamil for the Rural Fire Departments to be used for training purposes.

In a routine matter, the commissioners approved the FY2024 contract renewal for Oklahoma Office of Juvenile Affairs for detention transportation.

Katy Barger was approved as the requisition officer for all of the OSU funds, replacing Greg Highfill who retired.

A Savin copier was approved as surplus and will be junked.

The commissioners also approved blanket purchase orders and minutes of the last meeting.
