Avard Regional Rail Park Authority convenes for special meeting

October 6, 2023

Not much was happening in the open session of the Avard Regional Rail Park Authority special meeting on Tuesday. Stan Bixler, Todd Holder, and Scott Riley convened without Allan Poe, who was out on other business. Woods County Commissioner Randy McMurphy, County Clerk Shelley Reed, Consultant Sonja Williams, WCEDC Executive Director Jeremey Zeller, and Bill Myers from Myers Engineering were there.

The governing body began by approving last month's meeting minutes and then heard from Zeller, who reported he has been conversing with BNSF. He said that he had forwarded Authority members emails of those conversations. He said he also spoke with Jared Cooper from the State Department of Commerce, who told Zeller that everything was good to go for the ARPA funds.

After that, the Authority voted to convene in an executive session. They didn't take any action when they reconvened.
