Anything in a Christmas play that can go awry goes awry in ACT I Theatre's December youth production of "What Could Go Wrong the Night Before Christmas?" Opening night for the production is Dec. 14 at 7 p.m., followed by matinees on Dec. 16 and 17 at 2 p,m.

In this delightful show featuring young actors from grades 6, 7 and 8, a Christmas host attempts to do a perfect reading of "The Night Before Christmas" but is stymied by every imaginable interruption. The children show up wearing costumes and outfits for all the wrong holidays and the mice are shuffling, not stirring, as they play a game of Go Fish.

"This play by Kim Kao Hines is a light-hearted twist on the classic Victorian poem "'Twas the Night Before Christmas," said Director Delaney Lambert. "Our poor host is about to have a meltdown as every sentence she reads of the poem brings another interruption, including the appearance of Santa giving a PSA on the dangers of smoking and touting the usefulness of stain remover pens. By the end of the poem, you'll be energized for the Christmas season by all the fun the cast has on stage!"

The cast includes Joplin Bradt as the Host, Ava Dominguez, Ariana Dominguez, Breelyn Newby as the Children, Emma Eckhardt as the Stage Manager, Asher Brinkley as Owen, Elliana Reames as Chad, Maci Lehr as Nermal, Sadie Longhurst as Papa, Avaleigh Brinkley as Mama and Fern Evans as Santa.

Assistant director for the production is Sarah Eckhardt.
